Facilities and Methods

Facilities
Raman Systems:

- Sol Instruments: MS750 series Monochromator-spectrograph, for MicroRaman: 4 gratings (from 150 gr/mm, for luminescence, to 1800 gr/mm). The system is coupled with a prototyped chamber from NuovaCm (Italy) that permits to obtain the spectra from liquid nitrogen temperature up to 400 °C.
equipped with 4 laser line: 405 nm, 532 nm, 633 nm, 785 nm. Objectives: 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x
- BW-TEK: i-Raman® Plus , Fiber coupled Raman system at 1064 nm. Possibility to use different Raman probes and Raman Video Microsampling System.
- Home made Portable Raman system with excitation at 532nm, Raman probe. Spectrograph for Stokes and AntiStokes measuremnts with resolution of 1 cm-1
- Home made Raman system with excitation at 785nm, Raman probe. Spectrograph for Stokes and AntiStokes measuremnts with resolution of 1 cm-1


Optical Measurements:
- Spectrofluorometer FP-8550ST jasco, integrating sphere, solid and liquid samples
- Spectrofotometer Jasco for absorption, reflectivity measuerements. Solid and liquid samples.
- Steady-time luminescence with different set-up (excitation from 220 to 785 nm)

Time Resolved Luminescence:
MOPO - Spectra Physics. Optical parametric oscillator with a frequency double device, pumped by the third harmonic (355 nm) of a pulsed Nd-YAG laser (Quanta-Ray Pro 730). The excitation pulse width at half maximum was 8 ns with 10 Hz repetition rate, with a power density of 25 mW cm-2 on the samples and spectral bandwidth of less than 0.3 cm-1. The output beam can be tuned from 280 nm to 2000 nm.
Pico second pulsed laser diode: 1 kHz ps, pulse width was less than 300 ps.
Reflectivity Set-up
Home-made reflectivity system coupled with an Olympus microscope and two white lamps (Tungsten and Xenon lamps). Objectives 4x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x.
MechanoLuminescent System
Home-made mechanoluminescent system optimized to study the kinetics and the morphology of a single impact. The system is coupled with a gateable CCD and a dispersive system to obtain the mechano-emission spectrally dispersed
Thermoluminescent Systems
- Microthermoluminescent system . The system is a prototype from NuovaCm (Italy). It permits to obtain the curve from liquid nitrogen temperature up to 400 °C.
- Home-made thermoluminescent system from room temperature to 300 °C. The system is coupled with different photomultipliers and filter set.

Monochromators and detectors:
- Hamamatsu streak camera (Model C5680) coupled to an Arc-Spectra-Pro 275 monochromator.
- Spectrograph (ARC-SpectraPro 300i) with a spectral bandpass <2.5 nm, coupled to a gateable intensified CCD (PI MAX, Princeton Inst.).
- 2 Spectrographs (ARC-SpectraPro 300i)
- 2 Avantes Sensiline Avaspec-ULS-TEC Spectrometer (spectral range 300- 800 nm and 480 - 600 nm. respectively)

Lamps
- Laser-driven Xenon lamp (EQ-99X) with a final bandwidth of about 1 nm. Average optical power:1 mW/nm from 200 nm to 2000 nm
- Deuterium Lamp
- Mercury Lamps
- LED box with excitation at 405 nm; 532 nm; 620 nm. Possibility to tune and define the excitation wavelengths
Cooling systems
Two LTS-22-C-330 Workhorse-type optical cryogenic systems for low temperature measurements (8  to 330 K).
Glove box
Home-made glove box with different atmospheres, dry air, Argon, Oxygen, Nitrogen.
Climate Chamber:
FDM 25C70V25, Temperature range -25/+70°C, umidity 30/98%, Optcail illumination UVA and UVC range.
Synthesis facilities:
Controlled ovens (RT to 1300 K), equipped with different atmospheres, dry air, Argon, Oxygen, Nitrogen.
CVD Growth System:
MTI dual chamber OTF-1200X-II-60 (max temeprature 1200 °C)

A dedicated room for synthesis with chemical hood, spin coater, hydrothermal growth.
